Two medals for REMBE® rad-net at the European Track Championships

The cyclists from Team REMBE® rad-net won two medals at the European Track Championships in Konya (Turkey).

In the team pursuit, Franziska Brauße, Lisa Klein and Laura Süßemilch won silver, and Roger Kluge took bronze in the omnium.
The German women's quartet, which included Mieke Kröger (RV Teutoburg Brackwede) alongside the three REMBE® rad-net riders, had set the fastest time in the qualifiers and confidently reached the final. There, the quartet faced Great Britain, who had set a new world record in the intermediate round. The German quartet held their own for a long time, but despite setting the second-fastest time (4:05.448) ever recorded by a German women's quartet, they were ultimately defeated. ‘We are very happy with second place and the second-fastest time we have ever achieved. We gave it our all. The British team had the slight advantage of being able to swap one rider in the final and ride with five riders in total. We rode the entire tournament with four women,’ said Brauße, summing up the event.

Kluge, who had to sit out the points race due to illness, was delighted to win bronze in the omnium. The REMBE® rad-net rider got off to a good start in the four-event competition with second place in the scratch race and maintained this position in the overall standings with sixth place in the tempo race. He finished ninth in the elimination race and went into the decisive points race in third place overall. It was a hard-fought battle and although Kluge was able to score points time and again, he had fallen back to fourth place in the meantime. However, the veteran kept his cool and was able to secure the bronze medal behind Iuri Leitao (140/Portugal) and Yanne Dorenbos (131/Netherlands) with a late lap win and a total of 126 points. ‘I fell ill during the Six Days in Berlin, so I didn't expect to win a medal beforehand. It was a tough and tactical race. But I felt strong today and am very, very happy with bronze,’ said Kluge, who has another chance to win a medal today in the madison with Moritz Augenstein (RSV Irschenberg).

Last week, part of the REMBE® rad-net team competed in the five-part Mallorca Challenge. The riders were unable to achieve top placings in the world-class field, which included several WorldTour teams, including Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe with Tour de France third-place finisher Florian Lipowitz, but at the Trofeo Serra Tramuntana, REMBE® rad-net rider Ole Theiler made it into the breakaway group of the day.
