Heidemann Takes the King of the Mountains Jersey at the Tour of Germany
Team REMBE® rad-net played a key role in shaping the outcome of the first stage of the Lidl Deutschland-Tour (UCI 2.Pro), a 215-kilometer route from Bad Orb to Schwäbisch Hall.
Miguel Heidemann and Ole Theiler were part of the day's breakaway group—and Heidemann claimed the mountain jersey.
Immediately after the start, a leading group of five riders formed, including the two REMBE® rad-net riders; shortly thereafter, the group was reduced to three riders. The trio built up a lead of nearly six minutes over the peloton. At the first mountain classification, Theiler was ahead of Heidemann; at the second, Heidemann was the first to reach the summit, ahead of Theiler. As a result, the two REMBE® rad-net riders are in first and second place in the overall mountain classification.
“We attacked right at kilometer zero. Our goal for today’s stage was, on the one hand, to make our presence felt and, on the other, to win the mountain jersey. We didn’t expect it to go so well right away,” said Heidemann at the finish.
Johannes Adamietz also put in a strong performance. On the final lap in and around Schwäbisch Hall—which included a steep climb to the finish—he kept pace with the favorites, including superstars like Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), crossed the finish line with the first group, and finished in 23rd place.
Tomorrow’s stage features only one mountain classification, so it’s very likely that Team REMBE® rad-net will defend the mountains jersey. The stage covers 197 kilometers from Schwäbisch Hall to Offenbach an der Queich.
