Gold, silver and bronze at the start of the German Track Championships

At the start of the German Track Cycling Championships in Kaarst-Büttgen, the REMBE® rad-net team secured a full set of medals.

Benjamin Boos (centre) won the German Scratch Championship ahead of Tim Torn Teutenberg (left) and world champion Moritz Augenstein.
Benjamin Boos defended his title in the scratch race, Lisa Klein won silver in the individual pursuit, and Paul-Felix Petry took the bronze medal in the same discipline.
The men’s scratch race, which was characterised by several attacks, was decided in a sprint. In the sprint, Boos left Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek) and world champion Moritz Augenstein (RSV Irschenberg) behind him. “My aim was, of course, to defend the title. I’d been hoping for a fast sprint finish – and that’s how it turned out in the end. I’m delighted with this latest victory in the scratch race,” said Boos.

In the women’s team pursuit, Klein had already clocked the second-fastest time of 4:37.802 minutes in the preliminary round but was beaten by Messane Bräutigam (AG Insurance-Soudal Devo-Team) in the final. Franziska Brauße had finished third in the qualifiers but was unable to compete in the final due to health reasons. Laura Süßemilch and Katharina Palm finished fifth and sixth respectively, Hannah Kunz came eighth, and Selma Lantzsch took tenth place.

In the men’s event, Petry prevailed against Teutenberg in the third-place play-off, despite having been more than one and a half seconds slower than him in the preliminary round with a time of 4:14.013 minutes. With Tobias Buck-Gramcko, Moritz Binder and Boos in seventh, eighth and tenth places respectively, three further REMBE® rad-net riders made it into the top ten.

Tomorrow, the team pursuit is on the programme for both the men and the women. REMBE® rad-net will be fielding a total of three four-man teams.
