Theiler finishes fourth in Tour de la Mirabelle
REMBE® rad-net rider Ole Theiler narrowly missed out on a podium place at the Tour de la Mirabelle (UCI 1.2).
After 181 kilometres between Jarny and Nomeny Seille, he finished in a strong fourth place.
The French one-day race was marked by adverse weather conditions and continuous rain. "It was really tough. Rain, six degrees. At one point, I even thought about dropping out," admitted Theiler after the race. But Theiler persevered. Nevertheless, the race was marked by numerous attacks. Seven riders had gathered at the front. About 70 kilometres before the finish, Theiler and three other riders set off in pursuit of the breakaway group and finally caught up with them with around 25 kilometres to go.
Shortly afterwards, Samuele Zoccarato (Polti-VisitMalta) and Lucas Beneteau (St. Michel-Preference Home-Auber93) attacked and finished in first and second place. Victor Jean (St. Michel-Preference Home-Auber93) also broke away from the group in the final kilometre to take third place, while Theiler won the sprint of the pursuers for fourth place. "The two of them just rolled away and I didn't react immediately. I'm a bit annoyed about that because I think I could have done better. But I'm still happy that I was able to put in another good performance in this race after a not-so-easy second half of the season," said Theiler.
"Ole rode a clever race and stayed out of the early attacks. He may have worked a little too hard in the final, but I'm very happy with his fourth place," said Lucas Liß, sporting director of the REMBE® rad-net team.
Tomorrow, the REMBE® rad-net team will be back in action at the Arno Wallard Memorial (UCI 1.2) in the Netherlands.
