D-Tour: Theiler Takes Over the King of the Mountains Jersey from Teammate Heidemann

Team REMBE® rad-net defended the mountains jersey at the Lidl Deutschland Tour (UCI 2.Pro)—though it changed hands: Following Miguel Heidemann, Ole Theiler is now the new leader in the overall mountains classification after once again being part of today’s breakaway group.

Ole Theiler is the new wearer of the mountain jersey.
After several attacks at the start of the 197-kilometer stage from Schwäbisch Hall to Offenbach an der Queich, a three-rider breakaway led by REMBE® rad-net rider Theiler finally formed. The first and only mountain classification of the day was reached after 38 kilometers. There, Theiler secured one point, which was enough for him to take the lead from Heidemann.

The trio was caught again 20 kilometers from the finish. The race was then decided in a sprint, in which Benjamin Boos was the best rider from the REMBE® rad-net team, finishing 34th. Johannes Adamietz defended his 23rd place in the general classification.

“It’s incredibly great that our plan worked out. Miguel wore the mountain jersey today; tomorrow I get to start in it. That shows that we’re more than just a team—we’re also good friends,” said a delighted Theiler. Tomorrow’s schedule features the queen stage from Herxheim to Bad Dürkheim over 171 kilometers, with five mountain climbs—including two on the nearly six-kilometer-long Kalmit alone. “It’ll be tough, but we’ll give it our best and hope the jersey stays with the team.”
