Second place in the prologue of the Tour of Bulgaria
Felix Groß from Team REMBE® rad-net took second place at the start of the 72nd Tour of Bulgaria (UCI 2.2).
REMBE® rad-net also won the team classification in the 3.5-kilometre prologue.
The 3.5-kilometre prologue took place in Primorsko, directly along the coast, on roads that were poor in places and featured several technically demanding bends. Groß took 4:24 minutes and was only beaten by Serbian time trial champion Ognjen Ilic (Borac Cacak) by three seconds. ‘I knew that I had to set the right pace from the start and I knew what I could do over four kilometres,’ said pursuit specialist Groß. ‘The race went exactly as I had imagined. I am very happy with second place. For me, this is an important step in my preparation for the Track World Championships in Chile.’
Another REMBE® rad-net rider, Julian Borresch, also made it into the top ten, finishing eighth (+0:06). Moritz Binder came eleventh (+0:10), Jermaine Zemke took 16th place (+0:12) and Paul-Felix Petry came 29th (+0:16). Leon Arenz was unlucky, as he was also on course for a best time but then had a flat tyre and could not finish higher than 70th.
Today, Sunday, a 122.5-kilometre stage from Primorsko to Burgas is on the programme, which leads over hilly terrain.
