In addition, the riders from REMBE® rad-net women will be competing in the Bundesliga final in Bad Dürrheim, where they have an excellent chance of securing overall victory. Another part of the team will be competing in the Flanders Tomorrow Tour (UCI 2.2U) in the Netherlands.
The Sauerland Tour runs over four days. It kicks off with a 13.5-kilometre individual time trial in Brilon. The second stage runs from Brilon to Siedlinghausen. The third stage takes place on the circuit around Wenholthausen, already familiar from the German Mountain Championships and the Cycling Bundesliga. The final stage starts in Arnsberg and finishes on the Kahler Asten. Another highlight of the final stage is the infamous Hirschberger Wand, with gradients of up to 34 per cent.
“We want to have our say both in the stages and in the general classification,” says Fabian Peplau, sporting director at REMBE® rad-net, which will be fielding, amongst others, Miguel Heidemann, winner of the mountains’ jersey at the Tour of Germany. “A home race is always something special and we want to give something back to our fans. The route offers selective stages where we’ll be looking for our chances. Even though the competition is strong, we’re not just taking part for the sake of it. Numerous well-known teams have announced their participation for this tour’s debut, including development squads from various WorldTour teams and all the German Continental teams.
The women’s “Müller – Die lila Logistik Rad-Bundesliga” comes to an end this coming weekend with the three Riderman races in Bad Dürrheim. In the overall standings, Team REMBE® rad-net women, with Katharina Palm, Aileen Schweikart and Franziska Brauße, have three riders right at the top. “With three riders right at the front, we’re heading into the Bundesliga finale brimming with confidence. The goal for the final three races is clear: to defend our lead and secure overall victory in both the individual and team classifications,” said Sebastian Venkter, sporting director at REMBE® rad-net women.
