REMBE® rad-net triple victory in the single pursuit
Team REMBE® rad-net had a more than successful start to the German Track Championships.
To kick things off, the team from the Sauerland region celebrated a triple victory in the single pursuit - led by defending champion Felix Groß.
In qualifying, Miguel Heidemann set the fastest time of 4:19.583 minutes ahead of his team-mate Felix Groß (4:21.144), meaning that they shared the gold and silver medals. Fourth in the preliminary round, Moritz Binder (4:22.088) reached the small final for bronze against Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek).
The final race was initially very evenly matched, but in the end Groß was able to pull clear and won in 4:17.640 ahead of Heidemann (4:21.174) in midsummer temperatures of around 40 degrees. "It was really borderline hot today. I'm not that sensitive, but I had a body temperature of 41 degrees during my race," said Groß. Defending his title was also very important for the man from Leipzig: ‘I was ill a lot in the spring, so the gold medal is good for me.’ In the small final, Binder gave his rival no chance, coming ever closer to him and ultimately winning in 4:16.419 minutes with a clear eight-second lead over Teutenberg.
The elimination race was also held today. Roger Kluge finished fifth as the best REMBE® rad-net rider, while European champion Tim Torn Teutenberg won ahead of Tobias Müller (Wanty-Nippo ReUz), who still wore the colours of REMBE® rad-net last year.
Tomorrow the team pursuit is on the agenda, where the REMBE® rad-net team is the favourite. Felix Groß and Moritz Binder will also contest the 1000 metre time trial; Roger Kluge, Benjamin Boos and Felix Groß will also compete in the two-man team race.
