REMBE® rad-net hurries to the next Bundesliga victory with Rottmann
Team REMBE® rad-net continued its dominant performance in the men's "Müller - Die lila Logistik Rad-Bundesliga" at the 71st Großer Silberpilspreis in Bellheim (Rhineland-Palatinate).
REMBE® rad-net rider Jonathan Rottmann triumphed in the sixth race, while team-mate Ole Theiler defended his lead.
The first half of the 200-kilometre classic was dominated by a five-man lead group. "We had the race well in hand right from the start, led the field and controlled the group," said Fabian Peplau, Sporting Director of the REMBE® rad-net team after the race, with which he and the athletes were "very satisfied". The breakaway group, which gained a maximum lead of one and a half minutes, was caught shortly after the halfway point of the race.
A group of around 20 riders then broke away from the peloton on the windward edge. "We were clearly outnumbered there," Peplau continues. Seven riders from the REMBE® rad-net team - Rottmann, Theiler, Johannes Adamietz, Miguel Heidemann, Roger Kluge, Jon Knolle and Lennart Voege - had made it into the leading group, which was around two minutes ahead of the next chasers. Knolle tried to break away a few more times, but in the end it all came down to a sprint, for which Rottmann was perfectly positioned. "The victory means a lot to me, as it was my first Bundesliga individual victory and the first of the season. It was a mega great team performance. My thanks go to my team-mates who gave me such a good start to the sprint and I had the honour of completing it in the end," said a delighted Rottmann, who won ahead of Alexandre Kess (Lotto-Kern-Haus-PSD Bank) and Tobias Nolde (Benotti-Berthold).
Team REMBE® rad-net continues to hold a three-way lead in the overall Bundesliga standings. Theiler is still the leader with 821 points ahead of Heidemann (726) and Adamietz (690). Team REMBE® rad-net also continues to hold a commanding lead in the team standings. Adamietz also wears the sprint jersey and Heidemann the mountain jersey.
Parallel to the Bundesliga race, another 100 kilometre circuit race was held in Bellheim, in which Felix Groß from Team REMBE® rad-net took second place. Vincent John returned to racing after a long break due to injury and finished 15th.
