Kluge finishes second at Bremen Six Days - Brauße wins women's competition
Roger Kluge from Team REMBE® rad-net took second place at the 59th Bremen Six Days with his partner Moritz Augenstein (RSV Irschenberg).
In the women's competition, REMBE® rad-net rider Franziska Brauße took the win with Romy Kasper (PSV Forst).
After Italians Simone Consonni/Michele Scartezzini had taken the lead after the first two evenings of the four-day six-day event, Kluge/Augenstein took first place in the overall standings on the third day. Kluge/Augenstein started the final evening as overall leaders with a one-lap advantage over Consonni/Scartezzini, but in the final chase, Consonni/Scartezzini made up the decisive lap and overtook Kluge/Augenstein with a total of 229 points to 227. “It was impossible to shake off the Italians. They rode in our slipstream for much of the race and saved their energy for the decisive moments,” said Kluge after the race.
Two other riders from the REMBE® rad-net team, Benjamin Boos and Max-David Briese, also competed in Bremen. Boos crashed on the first day, which meant that he and his American partner Peter Moore fell slightly behind. In the end, they finished in fifth place. Briese, who performed particularly well in the 500-meter time trial, finished sixth with Moritz Malcharek (Frankfurter RC 90).
For the women, the competition lasted two days, during which Brauße/Kasper put on a dominant performance. On the first day, the duo already gained a lap advantage over the competition and secured another bonus lap the following day by crossing the 100-point mark. This meant that their overall victory was never in danger, even when three teams pulled away in the final chase and managed to gain a lap. Brauße/Kasper ultimately prevailed with a one-lap lead and a total of 128 points, ahead of Fabienne Jährig/Jette Simon with 106 points and the Norwegian-British combination of Nora Tveit/Lucy Nelson with 82 points.
