Successful start to the Olympia's Tour: Heidemann second - lead in the team classification
Team REMBE® rad-net got off to a great start at the prestigious Olympia's Tour (UCI 2.2) in the Netherlands.
Miguel Heidemann was only narrowly beaten in the opening time trial and finished second, while Bruno Keßler, another REMBE® rad-net rider, finished in the top ten. This means that the Continental team from Sauerland also leads the team classification.
Heidemann covered the 10.9 kilometres around Beltrum in 13:18 minutes. Only Dutchman Tim Marsman (VolkerWessels) was five seconds faster than the REMBE® rad-net rider. Keßler finished tenth, 21 seconds behind; Julian Borresch also achieved a good result in 17th place (+0:25).
"First of all, I'm super grateful and super happy that I can continue to race with Team REMBE® rad-net. That's not something to be taken for granted. The winter with the uncertainty wasn't easy," said Heidemann at the finish. "I'm looking forward to the next few days with the boys. We are all relatively well placed and are now taking it day by day. Everyone will get their chance and try to show what we can do as a team."
In the overall standings, the riders have the same gaps between them. Heidemann will wear the green jersey of the best sprinter tomorrow. In the team classification, REMBE® rad-net leads by two seconds ahead of the two development teams of the two WorldTour teams Decathlon-Ag2r and Lidl-Trek.
The most demanding stage of the five-day tour in terms of profile is on the programme tomorrow. The Ronde van Limburg, otherwise known as a one-day race, will be held as part of the programme. The start and finish are in Beek. The 173 kilometres include numerous short but tough climbs, including the Cauberg, famous from the Amstel Gold Race.
