Bruno Keßler strong third on the final stage of the Olympia's Tour
At the end of the prestigious Olympia's Tour (UCI 2.2) in the Netherlands, Team REMBE® rad-net once again achieved an absolute top result.
Bruno Keßler sprinted to third place on the 185.4 kilometre stage from Neede to Tiel.
"The wind conditions were brutal today. But we knew the route from last year and were prepared for everything to fly apart," reports Wolfgang Oschwald, Sporting Director of the REMBE® rad-net team. And so it was that the field split into several groups shortly after the halfway point of the race on the wind edge. The riders of the REMBE® rad-net team had already positioned their sprinters well, so that Keßler made it into the first group - as did his team-mate Ole Theiler.
But this did not calm the race down. When the 20-kilometre finishing circuit, which had to be ridden three times, was reached, the first group also fell apart. Once again, Keßler was well-positioned, held his own at the front and was able to challenge for victory at the end. In the end, only Antoine L'Hote (Decathlon-Ag2r Development Team) and Anton Stensby (Coop-Repsol) were faster than the 19-year-old. As a result, Keßler improved to sixth place in the overall classification, while L'Hote took the overall victory. He took second place in the junior classification.
"The race went very well for me today, I was always good and at the front. I then attacked alone on the last kilometre and was able to secure third place," said a delighted Keßler.
