Sensational success: Keßler German U23 time trial champion - silver for Heidemann

Gold and silver for Team REMBE® rad-net at the German Individual Time Trial Championships.

Bruno Keßler rode to DM gold in the U23 time trial.
Bruno Keßler was crowned German champion in the U23 class, while Miguel Heidemann took silver in the elite class.
"Two medals, including the title - and that against such strong competition. We can be extremely proud of that," said a delighted team manager Jörg Scherf. And Lucas Liß, Sports Director at REMBE® rad-net, added: "The boys put in really strong performances, and with Julian Borresch in seventh place, we also have another rider in the top ten. The result is more than respectable."

Keßler covered the 22.6 kilometres in 28:46 minutes. The 19-year-old was 16 seconds faster than Louis Leidert (Lidl-Trek Future Racing), who finished in second place. He relegated Paul Fietzke (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe Rookies) to third place by 23 seconds. "You can't expect to win, especially with such strong competition. It was a tough race and I'm over the moon that I was able to take the title," said a delighted Keßler at the finish.

With a time of 28:04 minutes, Heidemann was only beaten by Maximilian Schachmann (Soudal-Quick Step) and finished in a very strong second place. Third place went to Lennard Kämna (Lidl-Trek), who was a further eight seconds behind Heidemann. "It hurt at first," said the 27-year-old, initially disappointed, but quickly regained his motivation: "Hey, second place, runner-up, I'm happy. Now I want to go to the World Championships again, this time to Rwanda and win the gold medal in the mixed relay."

On Sunday, Team REMBE® rad-net will also compete in the German Road Championships, which will be held on a 19.8-kilometre course around Linden.
