19-year-old Jermaine Zemke a good 20th at the German Road Championships
Team REMBE® rad-net put in a respectable performance at the German Road Championships yesterday, Sunday.
The 19-year-old Jermaine Zemke finished 20th and was not only the best REMBE® rad-net rider, but also the third-best U23 rider.
In summery temperatures, the race on the very selective course around Linden developed into a real elimination race. In the early stages, a six-man lead group with the two REMBE® rad-net riders Jonathan Rottmann and Jermaine Zemke broke away. However, the peloton with the best German pros around the eventual winner Georg Zimmermann did not let the group get too far away, only allowing it a lead of around a minute. As a result, she was caught again early on by the - now very decimated - peloton.
Zemke, who found the hilly route to his liking, was then able to hold his own in the peloton for a while. However, as the seasoned WorldTour pros increased the pace in the finale, the young up-and-coming rider had to let go. Nevertheless, Zemke did not give up and finished in a good 20th place. Miguel Heidemann and Ole Theiler finished 25th and 26th respectively.
