Good start for REMBE® rad-net at the Tour du Rwanda

The REMBE® rad-net team got off to a good start in the Tour du Rwanda (UCI 2.1).

After the first two stages, Miguel Heidemann leads in two special classifications and is also ranked third in the overall standings. Jermaine Zemke has also achieved good results with two top ten finishes.
On the first stage from Rukomo to Rwamagana, covering 174 kilometers, Heidemann initially broke away from the pack with four other riders, but only two-time mountain bike marathon world champion Henrique Avancini (Localiza Meoo-Swift) remained. The duo was caught just 200 meters before the finish line. Along the way, Heidemann collected a few mountain points and bonus seconds, putting him in the lead for the mountain jersey. The next day, on the 135-kilometer stage from Nyamata to Huye, Heidemann was once again in a five-man breakaway group. Once again, the 28-year-old was at the front in the mountain classifications and extended his lead in the special classification. He also earned enough points to take the lead in the sprint classification. However, the group was caught again before the finish line.

On both days, Zemke was able to show his strength in the sprint finish. On the first stage, the 20-year-old sprinted to seventh place, and on the second day he finished eighth.

Heidemann is currently in third place in the overall standings, just one second behind the Spanish leader Pau Martí (NSN Development Team). Zemke is currently twelfth, eleven seconds behind. The Tour of Rwanda lasts a total of eight days and ends next Sunday in the capital Kigali.
