Adamietz Finishes Fourth Overall at the Tour of Antalya - Women Make Strong Debut at the GP Oetingen
Johannes Adamietz of Team REMBE® rad-net finished fourth overall at the Tour of Antalya (UCI 2.2), while German U23 champion Mauro Brenner came in ninth.
The women also got off to a strong start to the season: At the highly competitive GP Oetingen (UCI 1.Pro) in Belgium, Selma Lantzsch finished in 21st place.
In the first two stages of the Tour of Turkey, Jermaine Zemke finished in the top ten, coming in tenth and sixth. In the final stage, he finished twelfth. “After we’d hit the post and crossbar, so to speak, on the first two stages, we wanted to score the goal at the end. But unfortunately, my chain fell off 300 meters before the finish, so I couldn’t stay in the mix at the front,” Zemke said nonetheless with a smile.
Adamietz and Brenner also delivered strong results. “On the third stage, our two climbers were called upon and did very well, finishing fourth and ninth. Johannes, in particular, fought at the front for a long time, but in the end, he was just a bit short of the mark,” reported Dirk Schlosser, sports director of Team REMBE® rad-net. In addition, Miguel Heidemann finished twelfth on the tough mountain stage. The overall standings fell into place accordingly: While Belgian Henrique Bravo (Soudal-Quick Step Development Team) took the overall victory, Adamietz finished fourth, 1:26 minutes behind; Brenner came in ninth, 2:09 minutes behind; and Heidemann took twelfth place, 3:14 minutes behind. “Three riders in the top 15—that’s impressive. We’re all very satisfied,” said Schlosser. In the team classification, REMBE® rad-net took second place.
The women made their debut last Wednesday at the GP Oetingen. As top favorite Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) claimed victory, Lantzsch crossed the finish line in 21st place. This made the 22-year-old the top German finisher and also earned her new team its first UCI points.
At the Istrian Spring Trophy (UCI 2.2) over the past few days, Benjamin Boos (Prolog) and Moritz Binder (first stage) also each finished 14th.
