Training camp in Mallorca successfully concluded with two victories and overall success
Team REMBE® rad-net has successfully completed its training camp on Mallorca, during which it also took part in the Mallorcan racing series "Un Hivern a Mallorca".
This weekend, Bruno Keßler and Leon Arenz also won the last two training races. On top of this, Ole Theiler secured overall victory.
An individual time trial was on the programme yesterday, Saturday. Keßler covered the 6.2 kilometres, which ended on the Coll de sa Paret near Arta, in 10:29 minutes and won by one second ahead of his two team-mates Miguel Heidemann and Julian Borresch. Ole Theiler defended the overall lead in fourth place, also less than two seconds behind.
In today`s 114 kilometre road race around Manacor, a five-man lead group formed after Theiler's initiative at the first mountain classification with the three REMBE® rad-net riders Theiler, Arenz and Julian Borresch, but was reduced to four riders as the race progressed. In the finale, the REMBE® rad-net riders took it in turns to attack, but no one was able to pull away decisively. Arenz then won the sprint ahead of local racer Joan Bennassar, Theiler and Borresch.
Theiler confidently defended his overall lead in third place on the day. In total, five riders from the REMBE® rad-net team took first place in the overall standings. Theiler was followed by Miguel Heidemann, Johannes Adamietz, Borresch and Jon Knolle.
"The combination of training and competition has paid off," says Ralf Grabsch, Sporting Director of Team REMBE® rad-net, looking back positively on the past two and a half weeks, during which the team used the time on Mallorca to prepare for the season and also took part in the five races of “Un Hivern a Mallorca”. "We were able to try out a lot, including tactical things. Today was a bit tough after the strenuous training, but we went into the race with a lot of morale. The riders should now recover well and we want to hit the ground running again when the real races start."
