REMBE® rad-net dominates the German Cycling League in the Erzgebirge - Theiler continues in purple
Team REMBE® rad-net delivered a dominant performance at the ‘Müller - Die lila Logistik Rad-Bundesliga’ as part of the 45th Erzgebirgsrundfahrt and celebrated a triple victory, led by Johannes Adamietz.
Second on the day ahead of Julian Borresch, Ole Theiler confidently defended his leader's jersey.
The REMBE® rad-net team put its stamp on the 161-kilometre race through the Ore Mountains right from the start. After several attacks, a seven-man lead group formed around halfway through the race when the Kalkwerk mountain classification was passed. With Adamietz, Borresch, Theiler and Miguel Heidemann, four riders from the REMBE® rad-net team alone were represented in this group. At the Himmelsleiter in Spiegelwald, the annual executioner of the Erzgebirgsrundfahrt, the group split up. Adamietz, Theiler and Borresch remained in the leading group of four, from which Adamietz and Theiler were able to break away once again in the finale.
The duo crossed the finish line together, with Theiler, who had won the opening race of the national cycling league in Schweigen, handing victory to his team-mate Adamietz. Borresch crossed the finish line 17 seconds later in third place. Heidemann finished fifth. REMBE® rad-net thus also clearly won the team classification for the day.
"We went into the race with an offensive tactic and wanted to have a say right from the start. That worked out really well. Of course, we couldn't have predicted a one-two-three victory," said Johannes Adamietz after the race. The 26-year-old continued: "I'm delighted that I was able to win the race. I reached the finish line in twos with Ole. He could have won just as easily and would have deserved it. We were equally strong."
After the first two races, Theiler leads the overall Bundesliga standings with 390 points ahead of his team-mate Miguel Heidemann (266) and Cedric Abt (249/Lotto-Kern-Haus-PSD Bank). Borresch (229) and Adamietz (210) are also in the top five. Adamietz took the overall lead in the mountains classification, while his team-mate Jonathan Rottmann defended the sprint jersey. In the junior classification, Pepe Albrecht, a rider from the REMBE® rad-net team, also remained in the lead. The team is now also leading the team classification.
