Domani, venerdì, inizia la due giorni della Sixdays Weekend a Berlino, con l'addio di Theo Reinhardt del Team REMBE® rad-net al Velodrom, che sarà l'ultima gara della sua carriera. Gareggerà insieme al suo compagno di squadra REMBE® rad-net Roger Kluge.
Reinhardt wants to finish his career at the top of the podium once again. The duo wants to take the overall victory in the Berlin Velodrom. "We're starting to win again," says Kluge. "We're particularly motivated here at home now. Theo has worked hard again over the winter for Berlin. I'm sure that he's in good shape and so the conditions are already in place for us to compete for victory." The main rivals of the two REMBE® rad-net riders are Yoeri Havik/Philip Heijnen from the Netherlands and the Italians Elia Viviani/Michele Scartezzini.
For Reinhardt, the farewell in Berlin will be a special one: "Being able to end my career in Berlin, the city of my birth, is a great gift. I reckon it will be very emotional. I used to sit in the stands at the Berlin Velodrom as a youngster and cheer on the big boys at the six-day races, developing dreams and visions that I was fortunate enough to be able to realise. The velodrome can be a real cauldron. Then it's incredible to be a rider on this track. There were quite a few moments when I actually had goosebumps on the bike because the atmosphere was so great."
Anche Felix Groß del Team REMBE® rad-net è rappresentato nella sei giorni. Sarà al fianco dell'olandese Roy Eefting. Anche altri due corridori del team REMBE® rad-net avrebbero dovuto prendere il via a Berlino. Tuttavia, Benjamin Boos e Bruno Keßler sono stati coinvolti nel grave incidente di allenamento della nazionale tedesca di atletica leggera a Maiorca e sono stati esclusi.
