REMBE® rad-net rider in the top ten three times
The riders of the REMBE® rad-net team achieved three international top ten finishes on today's 1st May holiday.
At the GP Vorarlberg (UCI 1.2) in Austria, Ole Theiler and Johannes Adamietz finished in the top ten, while Leon Arenz came eighth at the U23 edition of Eschborn-Frankfurt.
GP Vorarlberg (UCI 1.2)
The 163-kilometre GP Vorarlberg with start and finish in Nenzing was very competitive right from the start. At the start of the race, the REMBE® rad-net riders occupied several groups, but then after around 20 kilometres a small group broke away without a rider from the team. This group gained a lead of up to five minutes. While there was disagreement in the peloton, Jaka Marolt (Factor) broke away alone from the leading group and eventually rode to victory. The rest of the group was caught in the finale by a field of around 20 riders, including three riders from the REMBE® rad-net team. There were numerous further attacks up to the finish and again a lot of disunity in the peloton. Ole Theiler, Johannes Adamietz and Miguel Heidemann ultimately finished seventh, ninth and twelfth respectively.
Eschborn-Frankfurt U23 (UCI 1.2U)
At Eschborn-Frankfurt, Team REMBE® rad-net had to compete with a reduced squad of four riders due to illness. Nevertheless, the team played a decisive role in the race, which led twice over the Feldberg and the Mammolshainer Stich. Last year's German U19 champion Pepe Albrecht made it into the first seven-man breakaway group of the day, but was only able to pull out a one-minute lead. As a result, the group was caught before the second Feldberg crossing. There, the decisive group of around 20 riders around Arenz broke away and decided the victory among themselves. While there was a Danish one-two with Conrad Haugsted (ColoQuick) and Mads Landbo (Give Steel-2M), Arenz sprinted to eighth place and was the best German. "Leon rode superbly and was very attentive. Despite the fact that our team was decimated, we showed a good race and were always present. We must and can be satisfied with that," summarised Ralf Grabsch, sporting director of REMBE® rad-net.
Spurt into May
Yesterday evening, Roger Kluge and Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek) won the Spurt into May on the cycling track in Büttgen, repeating last year's success. In today's circuit race, the world champion finished eighth in the two-man team race.
