Tour of Antalya: Paul Wright gives REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland their first podium of the season /Jonathan Rottmann with top placing
The New Zealand professional cyclist Paul Wright from the REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team™ Sauerland secured the coveted sprint classification at the start of the international Tour of Antalya.
Starting tomorrow, the new addition to Sauerland's service will ride in the green jersey, which is reserved for the best sprinter in the stages - a tradition that is also maintained at the Tour de France. Wright was the driving force of a four-man breakaway on the first stage from Side to Antalya and dominated the intermediate sprints. “We really wanted to win the sprint classification today. “The boys were at the front from kilometer 0 onwards and Paul made it into the group of the day,” said sporting director Greg Henderson, happy about his compatriot’s coup.
The Sauerlanders were extremely satisfied with winning the ranking jersey. After the World Tour teams around Bahrain and Alpecin were able to collect the breakaways in the final, youngster Jonathan Rottmann provided the first exclamation mark. The former RC Victoria Neheim driver finished in a strong 16th place after almost 140 rainy kilometers. The Tour of Antalya is well fielded with 25 teams from all over the world. The local REMBE® and Sauerland paints are represented by Jonathan Rottmann, Paul Wright, Lennart Voege, Sebastian Niehues, Julian Borresch, Henri Appelbaum and Yago Aguirre. The race takes place over four stages and ends on Sunday in Antalya.
