Successful start at the Tour of Turkey for the REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland
From the first few meters of the Presidential Tour of Turkey, the REMBE Pro Cycling™ team was in attack mode.
On the mostly flat 135 kilometers around Antalya, Julian Borresch was part of a top group of seven and showed a strong performance. “Our goal was to take part in the first attacks straight away. The stage was super fast. Of course we wanted to be seen in the live broadcast, but we also had the sprint classification and the mountain classification in mind,” says sports director Wolfgang Oschwald, explaining the situation after the race.
In addition to Borresch, Paul Wright was also able to collect valuable points in an intermediate sprint in the final. Unfortunately, young sprinter Jonathan Rottmann was slowed down by a fall in the final. While he was in a promising position, he had to avoid a fallen Polish racer in the finish corner and missed the top 20. The stage was won by the Dutchman Fabio Jacobsen from the World Tour Team DSM. The Tour de France stage winner is the star of the tour alongside Briton Marc Cavendish (Team Astana). The Tour of Turkey is a renowned pro tour and takes the international peloton on a total of eight stages from Antalya to Istanbul. The Sauerland Colors are represented by Yago Aguirre, Julian Borresch, Jonathan Rottmann, Henri Appelbaum, Paul Wright, Jacob Scott and Jan Temmen. The race can be seen live daily on Eurosport.
