REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland wins gold in the team time trial - now in 2nd place in the Bundesliga
German champion and upward trend in the Bundesliga
The REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland team won the German team time trial championship. The Lotto Kern Haus and Sportforum teams completed the podium. At the same time, the title fights were part of the Lila Logistik Rad Bundesliga. The Sauerlanders also made up ground here and are now in a strong 2nd place in the overall ranking.
"50 kilometers with a 55 average"
From the very first few meters, the team with Julian Borresch, Sebastian Niehues, Julian Braun, Jonathan Rottmann, Henri Appelbaum and Silas Koech gave it their all and laid the foundation for victory in the first half of the almost 50 kilometer long time trial. Together with NRW coach Wolfgang Oschwald, the Sauerland youngsters had once again prepared intensively for the title fights. “We have worked well in the last few weeks and everyone was in top form. We already suspected in advance that it could be enough, but didn't tell much about it. On a day like this, everything has to be right and no one is allowed to fall. It was a lot of fun, during the short hour of racing the speedometer needle was always between "55 and 60," reports Wolfgang Oschwald directly after the title fights.
Hard training, aerodynamics tests in the wind tunnel and new time trial helmets in advance ensure seconds
In addition to the hard training on the time trial machines, which were sometimes very uncomfortable, some of the athletes also worked on their aerodynamics. “The idea came to us after the DM in the individual time trial. In the analysis we found that Julian Borresch, for example, kicked at much higher wattages compared to the competition, but still didn't win. So we had our strong time trialists tested in a wind tunnel near Munich and changed something about their seating positions,” explains Wolfgang Oschwald. All of this with help from Sauerland: Björn Gesemann, who comes from Kallenhardt, opened the doors for us to the institute “The Aerow” in Munich, which is popular in the scene. The REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland was also equipped with high-tech helmets from the French specialist EKOI. “The brand new ones Time trial helmets from EKOI are actually only reserved for the top professionals from Israel Cycling and Lotto Dstny in the World Tour. The entire effort from training to material was worth it Seconds ahead of 50 kilometers, the overall package made up of many small components makes the difference.
