REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland scores points at the Tour de Taiwan: Julian Borresch strong 5th overall
The REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland returns from Asia with a strong 5th place from Julian Borresch and a lot of self-confidence.
Behind the Sauerlanders lie five hard and grueling stages of the Tour de Taiwan. In addition to the ever-present Julian Borresch, the entire team caused a stir. The unified performance underlines Borresch's top placing in the individual ranking as well as his 5th place in the team ranking of the entire tour.
Right from the start of the renowned race, the team put itself in a great starting position thanks to its aggressive driving style. On the first part of the day, the REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland even took 1st place in the team ranking. With Julian Borresch's top spot, the 21-year-old youngster confirmed his strong performances from last season. “Julian has a huge engine and was able to hold on to the lead on the two mountain stages. On the last climb of the final stage he even collected points in the mountain classification. “But he still hasn’t reached his maximum and there’s still room for improvement,” said sporting director Greg Henderson enthusiastically. In the end, the national rider was only 14 seconds behind Joseph Blackmore, the winner of the Tour de Taiwan. The Brit, who works for the Israel Premier Tech team, won the tour with his team at the last second. With a surprise attack, the Israelis took the previously leading Ivan Cobo from Spain from Equipe Kern Pharma by surprise. At this moment the Sauerlanders were in the picture and kept up with the leaders. "Everything went according to plan for REMBE Pro Cycling™. The team didn't panic and just followed the really strong guys. Lennart Voege in particular showed himself to be a valuable helper on all stages," says Henderson after the race. The Sauerlanders thus held their own against a lot of athletes with Tour de France, Giro d Italia and Tour of Spain experience. The Tour de Taiwan took place over five stages around Taipei. The distances on each day were between 90 and 160 kilometers. The REMBE Pro Cycling™ colors were represented by Julian Borresch, Paul Wright, Henri Appelbaum, Lennart Voege and Dominik Weiss.
