Julian Borresch helps Germany win the world championship and comes in a strong 36th place in Zurich

Shortly after the race, Julian Borresch was still aware of the strain of the U23 World Championship race. The youngster, riding for the REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland, crossed the finish line in a strong 36th place and only then realized that his teammate Niklas Behrens had won gold in a thrilling finale.

“The course was extremely difficult. The weather with constant rain and constant changes in direction didn't make it easy. We were super strong as a German team and were always in the picture,” Julian Borresch proudly reported on the evening of Germany’s World Cup coup.
In fact, the 174 kilometers were driven very quickly on a circuit on Lake Zurich. In the end, the average on the mountainous course was just under 42 km/h. At Borresch's World Cup debut, the Sauerland captain mainly had to provide help and was part of the top group of almost 30 for a long time. It was only when the field split up in the final that he had to let it go. “The former German junior world champion Emil Herzog from the Red Bull Bora HansGrohe Team had a defect at an inopportune moment and I brought him back to the front.” After that, I simply saved a good position at the finish,” said the national rider in REMBE service satisfied. Only just under 100 of 185 starters finished the World Cup.

Young Swiss woman dies in U19 race

The World Cycling Championships were overshadowed by the bad fall of 18-year-old Swiss woman Murriel Furrer. The junior came off the track on a descent and died from her injuries the next morning. This report only came during the U23 race and so Borresch and co only found out about the accident after they had crossed the finish line. Given the circumstances, the award ceremony and the finish took place in a very quiet setting.

REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland secures 3rd place in the Cycling Bundesliga

In the last race of this year's cycling league, the REMBE Pro Cycling™ Team Sauerland secured the podium. Without top performer Julian Borresch, who was prevented from taking part in the World Cup, Jonathan Rottmann and Co made it onto the podium at the race in Bad Salzungen. The winner of the team competition was the Radnet Oßwald team from Hagen ahead of Lotto Kern Haus from Rhineland-Palatinate and the REMBE Pro Cycling™Team Sauerland. “Unfortunately, Bad Salzungen was one of the races that was postponed to the end of the season because of the floods in the spring. The clash of dates with the World Cup made it impossible for us to bring Julian Borresch to the start. Nevertheless, the rest of REMBE Sauerland fought through well and were able to secure the podium,” explains trainer Wolfgang Oschwald happily after the race.
